The short version
BillSense is free to use with no account. We compare your energy bill against plans published on the government's energy plan registry and show you the cheapest for your usage. The result is general information to help you decide, not financial or energy advice, and not a guarantee. Always confirm the plan details directly with the retailer before you switch.
Using BillSense
You may use BillSense for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don't misuse the service: no scraping or bulk-harvesting our pages or data, no attempts to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, and no uploading content you don't have the right to share. We may limit or block access that threatens the service or other users.
There is a public comparison API for AI assistants. It is offered as-is, may be rate-limited, and may change or be withdrawn at any time.
Accuracy and no advice
We work hard to read your bill and price plans accurately, but we can't guarantee it. Extraction from a photo or PDF can misread figures, and plan data on the registry can lag real-world offers. Savings are estimates based on your recent usage and the rates we read; your actual cost depends on your future usage and the retailer's current terms.
BillSense is not a licensed financial adviser and does not provide personal financial advice. Nothing here takes your full circumstances into account. Treat the result as a prompt to check, not a recommendation to act, and verify everything with the retailer before switching.
Referrals
If a retailer agrees to pay us a referral fee when you switch through a link on BillSense, we may receive that fee. It never affects your ranking: results are always sorted by your estimated annual cost, cheapest first. You are free to take the plan details and go directly to the retailer yourself.
Intellectual property
The BillSense name, design, and content are ours. Plan data originates from the Australian Energy Regulator's Energy Made Easy registry and remains subject to its terms. You may share links to our pages, but please don't copy, republish, or resell our content or data without permission.
Liability
BillSense is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service or from a decision to switch (or not switch) plans. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of BillSense after a change means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
