Privacy Policy

What we collect
When you upload a bill, we receive the file itself (PDF or image) and the data our system extracts from it: your retailer name, usage figures, tariff rates, supply charges, billing period, state, and distribution zone. We do not ask for your name, email address, or account number, and we do not require you to create an account.
If you choose to email yourself your results, we receive your email address for the sole purpose of sending that one email. We do not store it, add it to a mailing list, or pass it to any third party.
How we use your data
We use your bill data to compare your current rates against plans available in your area and to generate a plain-English verdict. We also store the extracted data and extraction quality metrics (which fields were found, confidence scores) to improve the accuracy of our bill-reading model over time.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to improving the service.
Where data is stored
Bill files and extracted data are stored in Supabase, which operates data infrastructure in Australia and the United States. Extraction is performed by Anthropic's Claude API. Plan comparison data is fetched from the Australian Energy Regulator's CDR registry and is not stored.
Referrals
If you click through to a retailer, we record that click (the retailer name, plan identifier, and estimated saving) for our own analytics. We do not pass any personal information to retailers. If a retailer has agreed to pay us a referral fee, we may receive a payment if you subsequently sign up with them. This has no effect on the order in which plans are ranked, we always sort by your estimated saving.
Data retention
Uploaded bill files are retained for up to 12 months for model improvement purposes, after which they are deleted. Extracted data (without the original file) may be retained in anonymised form for longer to support ongoing model training.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Because we do not collect identifiers such as your name or email address during a standard bill upload, linking a stored bill to you may not be straightforward. If you have a concern, contact us and we will do our best to help.
